DOGS
Christian saints tend to receive visions of the devil in the form of dogs.
Why dogs? They are universally recognized as symbols of shameless vice, great filth, and the source of great offense. It has been said, "A dog is man's best friend, but his neighbor's worst enemy."
But how does God feel about dogs? Let us examine the Holy Scriptures:
"Outside (the Holy City) are dogs." (Rev 22:15)
"Beware of dogs." (Phil 3:2)
"A dog is returned to its own vomit." (2 Pt 2:22)
"Do not give that which is holy to dogs." (Mt 7:6)
"It is not right to cast the children's bread to dogs." (Mt 15:26)
"What fellowship does a holy man have with a dog?" (Sir 13:22)
"Wicked shepherds are greedy dogs which can never have enough." (Is 56:11)
"The wicked prowl about the city howling like dogs." (Ps 59:7)
"Dogs have encompassed me." (Ps 22:16)
"Save my precious life from the power of the dog." (Ps 22:20)
Are you the owner of a dog? Are you cognizant of your dog being to any degree an offense to your neighbor? Or perhaps it is so well trained that it offers offense to no one but is a joy to all? What exactly motivates you to own a dog? - - as a charitable benefit to your neighbor perhaps?
What would a perfectly peaceful and civilized world do about the type of an animal that is very endearing to its owner but horribly offensive to his neighbor? When it comes to dogs, what is truly the will of God?
